Impala’s client had been living in the same house for approximately 20 years. When the children moved from home, the parents decided to replace the older style kitchen with a contemporary, modern, white kitchen. The kitchen design was to have clean, straight lines and a minimalist direction.
The kitchen design was to incorporate a double bowl undermount sink, no handles, a wall oven and microwave tower, a straight line of overhead cabinets above the cooktop and tall cabinets to the far end to hide the laundry.
Impala recommended an island unit with two dish-drawers to suit the smaller household size, white polyurethane cabinets and a thick snow coloured stone benchtop with brushed stainless steel kickboards. The glass splashback was one straight piece in fine metallic silver to complement the stainless steel appliances. Light placement was also critical to the overall functionality of the kitchen and a mix of ambient and task downlights were incorporated. A bulkhead over the cooktop was purpose built for task lighting. Lights were also placed proud of the tall laundry cabinets to highlight the pure white hues.
