Impala’s client was building a new house on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The home was modern but also eclectic. The client loved collecting objects from her travels and work, specifically wooden pieces. The brief was to design a contemporary kitchen using solid timber. The client wanted the texture and beauty of timber without looking rustic and farm-like. Impala designed several door proto-types before the client decided on the one used in the kitchen. Impala also polished and stained several sample doors for the client until the right hue and finish was achieved. In keeping with natural materials, a thick granite bench top was selected. The kitchen was completed with a mirrored splashback, which reflects the homes’ spectacular outlook.
