•Dramatic increase in storage and workspace.
•An open plan that brought together an informal lounge, formal & casual dining and outdoor entertaining area.
•Improved laundry
•Seating in the kitchen
•New aesthetic incorporating luxurious yet durable finishes.
beautiful but made to last
Challenges to overcome…
•Access to the kitchen was by walking through the TV area
•Existing footprint comprised of numerous small rooms lacking in form, function and flow
•Kitchen sink placed in afternoon western sun- work areas hot and uncomfortable
•Poor access through to outdoor entertaining area and casual lounge at back
•Outdated fittings and finishes
A bold transformation…
The clients desire for a kitchen that could effortlessly entertain up to 100 guests meant a radical revision of the footprint was required.
•Removal of numerous walls created a magnificent open plan kitchen that brings together all adjacent living and outdoor areas.
•Butlers pantry creates superior pantry & appliance storage that can be used as a secondary kitchen during extensive entertaining.
•Purpose built cabinetry continues from the kitchen into the informal lounge which accommodates media and books. Within conversational reach of the kitchen the TV area is no longer a thoroughfare. Cabinetry in formal dining room stores entertaining crockery.
•Conversion of window to doors provides aspect with a direct view of the pool and easy access to outdoor entertaining. The enormous island bench, centrally placed away from the heat of the external wall, creates free flowing space that can be utilised from all sides by multiple persons.
•The integrated fridge and appliance zone has been strategically placed on the outer edge of the work triangle at the owners request allowing for easy access to snacks and coffee making facilities with no disruption to the main work zones.
•Striking marble splashback adds drama and style and much effort was made to source the perfect slab of marble and complementary Superwhite Dolomite, chosen for it’s higher durability on the island bench and butlers pantry.
•A waterfall end provides seating for 4 to 6 people and is a dominant design feature as you enter the space.
