Annandale Bathroom

Impala’s client was renovating a terrace in Sydney’s inner west. The client engaged architects Jackson Teece to design the renovations and joinery throughout the house including the kitchen, laundry, study, bathrooms and wardrobes. Impala Kitchens built and installed all the joinery on this project.

The bathrooms were to be contemporary but also organic and tactile in finishes.

Bathroom features to note:

  1. Wall panelling reflecting that used elsewhere in the home was used in the bathrooms to create a warm, textured feel in lieu of the usual feature tiled wall.
  2. The open shelving was also made from the timber used for panelling. Each open shelf encases a shaving cabinet to allow for storage of more utilitarian items to be kept from view.
  3. The floor tiles and bench top are warm and natural to impart an organic earthy feel the client was looking for.
  4. Black tapware was used to create a funky, contemporary vibe. The showerscreens are tinted (a bold move away from the ubiquitous clear screens).
  5. Lighting was important to the client, with the main bathroom featuring LED downlights, a lighted shaving cabinet and a wall light above the bath tub.
