Compact Solutions

Impala’s client was renovating a smallish unit in Bondi. The client was looking for smart storage solutions with a minimalist design and a crisp, glossy white finish. The joinery was to be both functional and seamless, so as not to distract from the gorgeous outlook.

Features to note:

  1. The TV unit features recessed kicks to give a “floating” feel and to make the compact space feel less boxed in. No handles were also a given to ensure the unit blends into the backing wall.
  2. Sliding gloss white polyurethane doors were designed in the bedroom wardrobes to allow ease of access into the robe without having to step back from a hinged door opening which would make the room feel cramped. Incorporating sliding doors also meant a larger door size could be used in keeping with the minimalist look required as per the client’s brief.
  3. An awkward corner in the main bedroom required a corner cabinet to blend into the room. To this end, a shadowline and floor to ceiling panel was installed.
  4. The unit’s bathroom was very compact, but the client still required storage. Impala built a wall to wall shaving cabinet mounted in a recess above the toilet to provide much needed storage space and to give the illusion of a larger space by incorporating generous mirrored doors.
