French provincial kitchens are somewhat quaint and traditional. There is a lot of detail in this style of kitchen design. If you are renovating or remodeling your kitchen, you will notice that typical design features include mantle places, corbels, pilasters and capping. Plate racks and ornate freestanding stoves can also be incorporated.
Materials often used in provincial kitchen renovations are hand-painted doors with visible brush-strokes, stone benchtops with thick edge profiles, glass doors and wrought iron door handles.
Not all design features are present in all provincial kitchens and there is a trend to “go provincial” in a more austere manner. To achieve a more modern look to your provincial kitchen, simply keep the detail to a minimum.
