Traditional Elegance Practicality

This busy young family in Sydney’s leafy northern suburbs had very well informed ideas for their family kitchen yet they had trouble finding a kitchen designer to understand their wants. That is until they met Impala Designer Cara. Working closely with the client, Cara was able to create their dream kitchen, creating a wonderful family space that is inviting, functional with wonderful traditional elegance.

Client brief:

Must be a user-friendly kitchen to accommodate busy family dynamics.

Detail English tradition, whilst maintaining balance and classic elegance.


Important inclusions:

Clean lines for maximum accessible storage and ease of mobility around the kitchen.

Ample pantry storage with inner drawers and clear, visible upper shelving.

A practical, open appliance area was important for tea/coffee making facilities and extra deep pot drawers to conceal toaster and a variety of extra height goods. 

At least 3 central, island seats with additional rear storage to conceal  power points for charging electrical goods.

Small inner drawers incorporated into the island equal split pot drawers, to conceal items away from small children. 

A large bin drawer was positioned in the main preparation area, to remove cutting waste with ease. 

Focal points:

Decorative Mantle with decorative corbels , ledge and double layered capping. Corresponding corbels to ends of island, proud kickboards and feature 360 pilasters to sides of sink and stove.

Classic lead lights incorporated to glass wall cabinetry and complimenting iron chairs to island for finer detailing and styling.

Quantum Quartz; Michael Angelo Quartz benchtops on all surfaces. 
Mitred 40mm pencil edge of benchtops and feature lambs tongue profile on central island for design impact. 

Doors in classic Windsor profile in Dulux Natural White Matt finish and feature ‘Pressed Metal’ inspired splashback tiles in subtle grey to add further depth and dimension, without over powdering the feature Quartz. Pewter door handles finished the traditional English design.
